Today marks Day 388 of my ‘Rona Running Streak. Today marks Day 388 of my ‘Rona Running Streak. A minimum of 5K every day. Rain or shine, no excuses.

August in Texas? I ran.

The week long Texas “Snowpocalypse,” when the ground was covered with snow and ice and the wind chills hovered near 0? I ran.

On vacation in West Texas, in a dust storm with 80 mph wind gusts? I ran.

I’ve chronicled my almost 1,300 mile journey in my latest post for @dallas_moms (click on the link in my bio).

Don’t get me wrong--I’m not advocating running streaks. I think any trainer worth their weight in salt would tell you running without recovery or rest or in bad weather is a bad idea.

But as a 40-something year old mom who was worried her best days were behind her, being able to push my body to the limits and accomplish this goal has been thrilling.

A reminder that I’m still someone other than the chief cook and bottle washer, the keeper of the kids’ schedules, and laundry master.

I’ve still got it.

What “streak” would you like to start? Let me know in the comments. #lovetherunyourewith #anothermotherrunner #dallasmomblogger #dallasmoms

It’s Women’s History Month and I am talking ab It’s Women’s History Month and I am talking about feminism and the stay-at-home mom in my latest blog post.

Here's a question I’ve been struggling with lately. Am I a good enough feminist for my 4 daughters if I’m not currently living up to my career potential?

I took a serious step back from my legal career after the birth of my youngest 7 years ago, trading in an office job for a part-time practice that fits into the nooks and crannies of my stay-at-home mom existence.

I’ve never been comfortable with the “stay-at-home mom” label. Love taking care of my girls, but don’t like being defined only by my parenting duties.

I guess being a “good enough feminist” for my girls means acknowledging the struggles I’m experiencing and using them as the impetuous to make a few changes in my life, changes that are best for me. Perhaps I need to expand my professional life a little more. Or write a book. Or just do something that is different.

Stay tuned.

My oldest is learning how to drive, takes multiple AP classes, and sleeps until noon on the weekends.

My youngest still needs help getting strapped into her booster seat, can’t count past 20 (always skipping 13), and rises with the lark regardless of the day of the week.

I have 2 kids in puberty, and 2 kids who can’t pronounce the word puberty.

In my latest post for @dallas_moms, I’m talking about strategies for getting siblings with a wide age gap to stay connected.
