Anxiety makes us bad decision-makers and I made a Anxiety makes us bad decision-makers and I made a doozy of a bad decision back in March.

I surrendered my home office with its reinforced door to my 4th grader who no longer wished to share a bedroom with her sister, and moved my WFH operations to the family den, rechristened “Mom’s Office.”

Did I mention there’s no door in my new office space?

Now the kids are constantly in my space, driving this introverted mama bonkers.

Almost a year (gulp) into this arrangement, I’ve developed a few tools to cope.

Check out my latest post for @dallas_moms (link in the bio) for my introverted mom’s guide to surviving pandemic parenting.

Okay fellow introverted moms, how are you coping with the kids always being around? Hiding in closets? No judgment, just leave a comment.

Kicked off the last day of 2020 with how I have st Kicked off the last day of 2020 with how I have started every day for the last 285 days—a run.

While 35 degrees and pouring rain doesn’t make for a great run, it wasn’t bad either. Good music and 45 uninterrupted (i.e. kid-free) minutes to let my mind wander.

Thankful that I get to run. Thankful for the good health and privilege that make it possible. Praying for a better 2021 for all.

There is comfort in finding even a bit of normalit There is comfort in finding even a bit of normality these days. Case in point, photo with Santa.

I’m down to 2 believers in my gang of 4 girls. Well, maybe 1. I think the 10 year old is hedging her bets.

We went to ride the North Pole Express in Grapevine. A 45 minute, slower than slow, out and back train ride with “elves” providing plenty of Christmas cheer.

My heart grew 3 sizes seeing my girls’ eyes light up when Santa asked if he could sit next to them.

I wonder what they will remember of today years from now. Will they remember the face masks and sitting so far apart from anyone else? Or will they remember a tiny bit of normality in what has been a challenging year? Hopefully the latter.

What has been the bit of normality in your life that has provided you with comfort?

Just finished Emma Donoghue’s latest novel, The Just finished Emma Donoghue’s latest novel, The Pull of the Stars. An urban hospital overrun by victims of a pandemic. Medical supplies and personnel in short supply. Face masks common place in the street. Marginalized people disproportionately impacted.

2020 and Covid-19? No, 1918 and influenza.

Written pre-Covid, the parallels between the Spanish Flu and Covid are unreal.

A great read, if not a little unnerving. What are you reading?
